The Celebrating Bhovi:
We are a subgroup of the Waddar community. The Waddar community comprises Boyars and Voddas besides Bhovas. Traditionally we built temples, palaces, houses and roads. The word 'Bhova' is a corrupt form of 'Bhavi' which means 'well' in Kannada. It also means an 'earth-digger'. We have other names too such as Bhovi, Wadda, Tudugvaddar, Voddar, Vaddar, Girinivaddar, Od and Odde.
